You could call Dell and ask them for the restore disks and they should give them to you. I did that with a Dell PC that had problems and they said I needed to reinstall windows and they sent me the disks. So if you tell them what happened to the PC (like if it crashed) then they should send you them if the computer never came with the restore disks, but if the computer is NOT under warranty they will probably not give them to you.

Dell may have them for sale for $20 or so.

I didn't know that there was a company outside of the proprietaries, that would supply the disks...but I've previously ordered retore CDs for folks for Gateways, Compaq and Hps (although the same but) and Dells before and they weren't too expensive. Most of the time I merely went to their live support even though the computer was out of warranty, thanked them for helping me from the start and they would link me up or give me the phone number for the cd support. Once, at one instance on live support, they shipped the disks to me but didn't wish for me to use the credit card information over the live chat utility, and they called me by phone to varify the information. They actually made a mistake on zip, shipped to the wrong address, sent another set pronto via UPS, and the misdirected set showed up rerouted due to our famous honorable USPS service here in Missouri (after a phone call from the post office) and we actually ended up with two sets of disks. Two sets don't help much but I was impressed with the catch up and take care of customer service which is rare now-a-days. Any of the disks were less than $20 including shipping at that time as Sterling_Aug mentioned, last year or two. I haven't used that link you gave Midknyte, was it easier and speedy? It might help me later.

Forgive the long-windedness
