Xerox Workcenter 450C and USB

I have a Xerox WorkCentre 450c and am trying to use a Belkin USB cable to connect the printer to the USB port rather than using the parallel port and I can't get the system to recognize the printer - any suggestions on what to check?? I have emailed Belkin several times with no reply from them

Some versions of Windows need the usb update at microsoft. It's not written like just usb, it's one of the Win98 updates,, I think it's mixed in with the yr2000 update.. the note "read this first" is mandantory, this will tell you if you really need the download. Pay careful attention to the sequence in hooking up the usb device, I think it goes like , boot up pewter,, plug in device HOT. Install drivers.. check your documentation.. hope this don't give you a headache,, DH
