Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Installing Office 2K..?
I'm not sure if this the proper forum for this, but I hope someone can tell me what I am doing wrong..
I'm installing Microsoft Office 2K Professional version. It's a 2 cd set and cd #1 installs fine, and asks to reboot, without asking for cd #2 ? When I try to install cd #2 on it's own I receive the error msg:
Instmsi > This program has performed an illegal operation and wiil be shut down.
I'm thinking Istmsi is the installer.. could it be this file is corrupt, ?
Thanks...

Office 2K is a 2 disk set. But Both CD's are used for different things...CD1 has Word, Excel, Access, Outlook on it. cd2 has publisher and all of its clipart on it! Just out of couriosity are you overclocked when installing the software? Are you sure you have ALL "TSR" programs shutdown prior to installing? Do you by chance have a USR modem?

Thanks for your reply,
In response.. No i am not overclocked and I don't have a USR modem. As fas TSR programs,
colud Norton Antivirus affect the installation of cd #2 ?

Try hitting control, alt, delete, and one by one shut down everything except Explorer and Systray. Then try to install. I have run into this problem on a few installs and usually this works.
Thanks all, for your reply's but nothing seems to work http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
I figure there must be a problem with the cd
itself, I'm going to contact Mirosoft.
Thanks again..........

It possiable could...Microsoft's Office website strongly recommends that ALL "tsr" programs and such are turned off when installing. (I also asked about the USR modem as their is a warning specificaly about that setup on the website. You might think about check there for other insights. http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/
