I seem to have lost the ability to go into my dos mode by restarting the computer. When I go to start and the menu comes up I have the option to restart the computer in MS DOS MODE when I press this option the notation comes up staying "Cannot find the file C:\windows\comman.com make sure that the file exists on your system and that the path and filename are correct.

Someone told me to go to my C file and to drag the MS DOS over to Windows and that it would work but it does not.

My printer is not working and before the Manufacturer can help me I have to be able to shut down the PC to MS DOS.

Any help out there????

Try reloading your system over again, that
should do it for you.

Hey Pete-read your email. I sent u a letter I wrote to Dell with an ms-dos restart problem. Maybe it will shed some light on the subject. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

In a WIN98 setup, the command.com file should be located in both the C:\ and the C:\Windows sub directories by default.

If it's not located in your Windows dir, copy it over by using copy/paste from within Win.

If the above don't work, try System File checker. If any files show corrupted that are ms/dos files, restore them when prompted from c:\windows\options\cabs. Don't restore just any file shown corrupted or changed, only the ms/dos files. SF Check is under start>programs>accessories>system tools>tools>sfc . hope this helps, DrVette
