standy mode

my computer keyboard has this "sleep" button right above my arrows. if you would hit it, it wouldn't really like make it seem like it was shut down. it would just go into an energy saving mode. anyways, before i disabled it a few days ago, every time i would hit it, the moniter would go black, and not be able to come back up. i couldn't do anything, so i would just do a hard boot. why would it pretty much shut down my computer? do you need more info? thanks.

Sounds as if something you're running on your computer doesn't like going into standby/sleep mode, although Windows thinks it doesn't mind. It's not that it shuts down the computer, it just has trouble getting out of sleep mode.
