(legitimate and legal) Ol'Tunzafun 12-13-2007, 10:26 AM Amazon and ebay are, in my experience, the best places to find a good deal on Office. In the last two weeks, I found a retail 2007 pro for $275 at Amazon and a 2003 Pro for $80 on ebay. It helps if you first educate yourself a little on the version variety and licensing issues so you are not buying one thing and expecting something else. Charlie2 12-13-2007, 07:56 PM Yes I have MS Office xp Professional w/ Publisher version 2002 and MS will soon not support and I have been getting Fault messages at times opening Outlook. I absolutely hate outlook express and don't want to use it.... Thanks Steve R Jones 12-14-2007, 06:09 AM If you already have 2002 Pro, I'd stick with it...Sure as heck wouldn't upgrade it to a newer version and probably end up with the same problems. Have youu run repair and do you have ALL the updates for 2002? Charlie2 12-14-2007, 09:33 AM Thanks, I was kind of thinking the same thing...The software for Office is up to date. I will try a repair. I installed a new version of Spybot S&D and went to /tools/sysstartup and discovered two possible worms (besides the one behind the keyboard) Located: HK_LM:Run, (DISABLED) command: file: size: 0 MD5: D41D8CD98F00B204E9800998ECF8427E Warning: if the file is actually larger than 0 bytes, the checksum could not be properly calculated! G 12-14-2007, 01:49 PM Use CounterSpy as a second option over Spybot S&D before you execute any quarantine Spybot S&D feature. CounterSpy: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Home-Home-Office/Anti-Spyware/ 15 day fully functional. If CounterSpy doesn't find anything, then you probably haven't got an infection. Does your anti-virus program detect any infections? Charlie2 12-16-2007, 11:17 PM O.K. Trojan-Proxy.Win32.Xorpix.Fam Backdoor more information... Details: Trojan-Proxy.Win32.Xorpix.Fam is a family of trojans that allow a remote attacker to control the infected machine and use it to direct traffic to the internet without the user's knowledge. Status: Deleted detection and deletion by ConterSpy, thanks again G...had to renew my subscription was expired. Files detected C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\DOCUMENTS\Settings\config.ini C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\DOCUMENTS\Settings\ivn4.dll C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\DOCUMENTS\SETTINGS Also did the repair on MS Office and things seem to be normal. thanks Steve G 12-17-2007, 05:49 AM Glad to hear :) SysOpt.com
