alright, here's the deal. i have a perfectly fine parallel cable, well minus the DB25 connector from one end thanks to our puppy. anyway, so i thought "hey! this will be perfect for making a laplink cable!"

.... so anyway i have the wiring schematics for the cross over pins but the problem is in different pinout references that i have. some show the pin numbering this way:

1______________13
\............./
\.........../
14 25

while others show it this way:

1_______________13
\............./
\.........../
25 14

keep in mind, this is a male-to-male DB25. any ideas? much appreciation in advance!

Look on the in-tact end of the cable. The pin numbers should be printed real small on the end. Then just copy the way it goes to the other side. get an ohmmeter to make sure you solder the wires correctly.

Well, if I had to guess which one was correct, I'd go for the first choice. I've seen connectors laid out both ways before, but most often they are numbered the 1st way. Try it. It'll probably work http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

it is the first of the two ways that you have written there. Pins 1 and 14 closest together.
