Screen flicker off and on

every now and again, my LCD monitor will turn itself off and right back on for no apparent reason. I have checked all power cables, and they are all plugged in nice and snug. the video cable from the GPU to the monitor is screwed down and tight. Any ideas?

Check the power connection to your 8800. I was having some serious issues with my rig until I reseated the cards and checked/reconnected the power to the cards.

All good now. Hopefully it is that simple in your case.

the key here is to decide if your LCD is losing power intermittently or the video card is the issue

1. If your monitor is going from a green to yellow light you're losing the signal from your vid card

2. if your monitor is turning off altogether - no green or yellow light you have a PS issue with the monitor

brand and how old?

its the power on the monitor, the brand is LG and its about 6 months old maybe less. it has only done it twice, and hasnt done it since.
