Atlanta "Southern Cooking"

I met a friend here out west. He is from Atlanta. We where talking and he mentioned, "Southern Cooking".

He invited me over sometime to have some "southern cooking". I don't know exactly what southern cooking is. All I know is it sounds real good.

Can someone explane what southern cooking is?

Southern cooking isn't so much the dishes as the experience. People down here seem to enjoy meals more than anywhere else and prepare food with élan. Basic foods anywhere else - fried chicken, biscuits, pies, stews, whatever - are works of art here. Not much "health" food, either - thank God. :D
