My late brother used to collect comic books. 20 years ago while attending chiropractor college ( and recieving school loans ). My brother would come home on the weekends and spend a hefty amount of time ( usually 5-6 hours ) browsing at comic books at a local comic book store. He would spend a few hundred dollars every weekend for almost 3 years. 20 years later I am sorting through his collection in order to archive and more then likely at some point sell them. I know he bought these to read, but he also bought them because many would become rare and collectable. Many are plastic lined and I keep them in a double lined cardboard box. There are possibly a couple thousand issues in his collection. Many are DC,and Marvel. However the rest are of different companies I have never heard of. Alf, Checkmate, Racer X, Speed Racer, Sherlock Holmes, Last of the Viking Heroes are some of the odd comics in his collection. Last of the Viking Heroes I do know was inked and the story created by 2 people my brother and I knew pesonally years ago. I just don't know much about comics and how to price them. My brother at times did pay high prices for collectors first run issues and he often waited months for hard to find issues too. Somewhere in all this heap are issues worth good money to someone out there. I began archiving them yesterday. This will take me at least a year maybe. All I am writng down is the brand, Title, and issue# and date of the comic. I dont know what else to include. Some don't even have a title at all. What info is needed for archiving comics and where could I look for more info? The one downer I feel often after looking at many of my late brothers comics. He didnt' even read a small percentage of his own mini investment.
