i have a j-7bxas motherboard which has an ess 1938 solo soundchip on board. the problem is it keeps asking for a driver everytime i boot up into windows 98. i have re installed the original drivers, installed drivers from the net(all previous drivers removed in safe mode)and re allocated the device with new dma and irq's to no avail, and re installed windows from two seperate disks Any help on why the driver is doing this and how do i stop it.
ps when i re install the driver the sound works fine till the next bootup
Hello,
I think that something in your system claims the same memory space or IRQ with your sound card. Did you check and try to disable pnp option from your bios and dedicate IRQ 5 for it. Those sound cards/chips are pretty stubborn with the settings and they ask for IRQ5 and 220. I will look up at my disks for drivers because I had that type of card some time ago.
Keep us informed.
Hope it will help.
