Hi guys, lately I'm experiencing strange display behavior on this particular desktop. The display flickers and blanks itself out momentarily for 2 seconds or so whenever I run some DOS games or applications in full screen at a low resolution, say 640x480 (when ).

- I'm running an LCD monitor with a native resolution of 1280x1050.
- The system is a integrated X1250 graphics on a AMD 690G chipset motherboard.
- The video drivers and motherboard BIOS have been updated (although whether that might be the problem, I don't know).

If anybody has any idea about this, I would be grateful for it.

Thanks for reading! :t

Are you using Windoze? Is it doing it only when you go into/out of the app or while in the app? Probably a driver issue. Hate to say it, but it will probably only get worse as drivers mature. The writers of the drivers are concentrating on getting the most out of their product with the current applications and platforms. DOS based apps are pretty much dead now so support for them is almost non existent.
The flickering is probably caused by several things happening at once. Driver having to switch resolution, dropping 3gl, re-mapping, etc. Also, that is a low end video system. Slower in responding to system commands.

Yes I am using windows. Apart from running in full-screen for my DOS applications, I also tried to set the desktop to 640x480, and the flickering and blanking out of the screen also occurs.

Does this happen when you go into the app and then stop or is it constant while in the app?

It is constant while in the app.

I also found out that it happens when I set the desktop resolution to 6x4 and use it from there on.

Try a different monitor.
If it still happens, it rules out the monitor going bad.
