I have been told by many vendors that one of the main cause of increasing RAM prices is the recent Taiwan Earthquake. What I don't understand is that popular brands like Micron, SEC, NEC, Toshiba etc comes from mainly US, Korea and Japan. Although there are RAM chip manufacturers in Taiwan, I don't think they have a large market share (if any).
My question is if the quake affect RAM prices or is it an excuse used by the vendors?
Thanks.
