I posted this for general topic but think I should have been here. Whenever I shut down the computer A: drive gets hit a couple of times. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks

Some anti-virus programs will scan the a: drive on shut down, check your settings.

I had the problem before I installed the V/P. It is just when I am shutting down it hits the A: drive, twice. I can't believe I am the only one having this problem, never figured myself to be that unique.

You are not alone.

I've seen this many a time. I look after about 30 remote users mainly using Toshiba laptops and this happens on most of them. When you shut down, the floppy drive chugs a couple a times. I haven't bothered investigating it, but it is weird.

i don't know if this will help but mine started checking for floppys after booting into win after i down loaded a music prog. thought that was it. even though i had it set to not seek for floppy in bios and windows. finnaly traced it to MY DOCUMENT folder. it seems i was checking some old floppys to see what was on them. they where associated with an old drive that didn't exist anymore u know short cuts and stuff. anyhow win98 automatically puts that stuff in your docu folder and it started to search floppy on startup and when i put my mouse over MY DOCUMENT folder. erased content and problem went away!
