My mobile phone can browse the web and I intend to connect my mobile phone to the computer with USB, transferring GPRS data, so that I can browse the web in my computer. There is no broadband connection in the area but only GPRS data transfer through mobile network.
Can this be done ?
How many kB/s of data are we talking about for average web browsing in the computer ?

Yes it can be done - depends on your provider and plan......
here's one link (http://www.bmyers.com/public/938.cfm?sd=30) for a guy who uses Verizon and connects his cellphone to a laptop but no difference for a desktop
here's another (http://lifehacker.com/software/cell-phones/geek-to-live-use-your-cell-phone-as-a-modem-175048.php) for a guy using Sprint - I'd identify your phone model and mfgr, go to their website or your cellphone provider and poke around for the right software
BTW - he got about half the normal DSL speed
