Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : shutdown problem
This is a minor inconvience but it bothers me all the same. When I shutdown my p. c., I see the screen that states "Please wait while windows....etc." and then my screen goes blank. As soon as I move my mouse, the sceen that states " It's now safe to...etc." comes up. What do I need to do to take the mouse movement out of the eqation ? I've changed mouses(mice ?) but this had no effect on the problem. My system is a K5-133 with Win95(1st ver.). Thanx in advance for any help.

Before shutting down, try closing any open programs except 'Explorer' and 'systray' using <Ctrl / alt / del>. Then try shut-down.
If it works, then restart the computer and try closing one program at a time, followed by shut down, to find the offending program.
Also, by chance, are you running Norton AV?

Sounds like a graphics card incompatibility. Used to happen with my Permedia 2.

Heard there is some compatibility issue with AMD chips, check out Microsoft's website for the patch.
