Ever since the new year my clock won't hold Daylight Savings Time? I have checked my BIOS for Y2K and it's ok, and i'm running Win98SE with all the latest updates (i think). The time keeps going back an hour exactly?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Did you ever download any type of atomic clock software which hits an external time source to re-synch your computer time to a GMT+ standard of some type?
Another thing is, what are your regional setting set to in control panel? - Might someone have gone in and told the system to ignore daylight savings time settings or something like that??
Another thing to check is that you might need a new CMOS battery, but with such a precise error, I suspect a setting or other resident software is the issue.

Kosmo 1,
I have been having the same problem on one of my systems, about 3 times a week it is exactly one hour slow. I can't figure this out because it is real similar to my other system that does't have a problem.
The problem system is Win 98SE the other one is Win 98 (first ed.) Other than that both are running most of the same programs.
I have D-4, an atomic clock program, but it is correctly set and only checks when I run it.
Kosmo, Do you have nortons running?
I got Nortons system works 2000, with the AV running all the time.
Did you do the windows update that makes your years 4 numbers long? (ie 2000)
I can't think of any other differences between my two systems, the only other things would be win 98SE specific updates like the shutdown supplament.

You might have to flash the BIOS. I had a few problems like that after the new year. Found out the motherboard manufacturers knew about it and had a fix for it on their website. Flashing took care of it. They also mentioned that it was a spotty issure. It affected some but not all machines. Why? I don't know either.

My computer did the same thing.I changed out my CPU and some other stuff just before New Years. It seemed to loose track of time and couldnt keep track of time when it was set....I flashed the bios with a upgrade and that seems to have goten everything in sync.....Everyone thought it was kinda odd..gettin any kinda Y2K foulups.

Have you checked your time setting in bios? Is it possibley of an hour? Also I believe you can go into date an time in windows and unclick "Automatically ajust clock for day light savings time". This would prevent windows from pushing you back an hour until you fiqure out the bug. Good luck.

That was my thought exactly about it being a
bug having to do with daylight savings time.
actually I think this problem started soon after daylight savings time ended. (It was the original poster who has had this problem starting this year). Also, because it is always slow 1 hr. points to that. I do remember Windows giving me the "time change" message when DST ended, but maybe it is a little confused.LOL
Thanks for your suggestion, I unchecked the DST box and will see what happens. I should know soon, I have had to re-set the clock 2 or 3 times a week.
