How to check HDD for bad sector ?

My HDD is in use for more than 6 years, I think I should check to see its healthy status.

Just go to the website of the HDD manufacturer and download their diagnostic program to your desktop, then run it and follow the instructions. Typically, you'll need one floppy for the job. When done, leave the floppy in the drive and reboot. The diagnostic tools will then be available.
