when i start up windows i have to click on the administrator icon to enter windows to log on, does any one know how i can rename the administrator to my name or how i can remove the user log on, so when i start up windows it goes straight to the desktop rather than selecting a user account to log on to
thanks

To remove the password from the user account:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click User Accounts.
2. Click the user account.
3. Click "Remove my password".
4. Type the password in the "Type your current password" box, and then click Remove Password.

I would rather live with the logon myself. Helps keeps unwanted folks out

Its better all around to just add a new user account with your name giving it admin privileges . You can do that in Control Panel > User Accounts . Also, you can use Tweak UI (http://windowsxp.mvps.org/tweakui.htm) to easily edit the logon accounts for the Welcome screen , including auto logon .

If only have one user account, check for a .net account and delete it.
