Favorites Folders Disappeared

While looking at my list of newly organized folders in Favorites and trying to figure out how to save them, several of them just disappeared. I don't think I touched anything on the keyboard, but I may have clicked the mouse. One folder was highlighted when this happened and all the folders under it disappeared, but not the links that weren't in folders.

I got today's back through History, but I don't know about the others.

Main question...how do I save Favorites so that this doesn't happen again?

Where could the others have gone?

Check your recycle bin.

Then check windows explorer-Windows-Favorites.

I didn't find any in windows explorer, but I did find two of the missing folders in the recycle bin.

i think he meant, c:\windows\favorites\ (or atleast on my system) if you want to save or backup your favorites, backup that folder
