Hello,

i have problems with wav files, all my wav files always have some pops or clicks sounds
when i played them at media player, goldwave(sound editor) & some other players. I Have notice that the pops or clicks are not in the same position when i play it again, so that means that the pops are not embeded in the wav file. i also notice it only affects wav files and not .mp3 or some other media file types.

I'm using windows 98 before and i don't encounter this problem,
now i'm using windows 98 SE.

What could be causing the popping or click sounds?

If the software in any way alters the tone qualities of the *.wav file, you might see pops and clicks "move" - it isn't that they move, but at different frequencies, some pops disappear and new ones crop up where there were none before. On some editors, you can select the frequency that you record the file in. If you go up to CD quality, the *.wav file will become huge and you'll notice a lot more noise. Also - treble adjustment can do that. High treble and/or low base can bring forward different types of clicks and other noise.
Another thing to look at is to see if the hard drive the files are stored on has any problems. File fragmentation might be causing the trouble. You might just be due for a thorough scandisk and a defrag.

Another thing - might just be bad speakers.
