I have one and it is a pretty decent drive. I paid $32.99 though. With the price drop and free shipping I ordered a second one.
Check out cdfreaks if you want more information. It can scan with cd-dvd drivespeed with simple registry hack.
The SATA does well at burning, scanning and over speed burning.
The IDE version not too many reviews and the few that are around say the SATA just seems to be a better drive.
