Niiiiiccceeeee...... Only bad news is that it isn't 9/25 yet! Are we taking bets as to how large the demo will be? I'm going with 1.5GB.

Rabbitrunner51
08-30-2007, 05:13 AM
A demo..?? how sweet.. ! I'm sure glad most of the gaming industry still releases demos... Most of them i find are pretty accurate as to the full gameplay.. (In most cases.. )
That seems a fair bet Ramone. Most good games these days are usually 1.3GB on up. On that note, it doesn't matter much to me, as i always clean HD space periodically, and or some games i finish or don't play much. Geeze, i am soo behind the times with my HD's ( number of and capacity ) I still only use a certain folder or just put some in my program files ,whereas, some day i will get a HD just for all my games... ( I bet i have $2-3,000 in value there../ its just sick! ) All of them are burned to disk and filed away in my littel areas here.. LOL

sorry, but i had to relate this.. CC.., i went to that site and posted a comment, and had to register to do it; Then, after i wrote my post i got this message at the bottom saying i needed to enter anew set of letters/numbers ( the ole are ya drunk thing.. which is what i call it ), and they wanted to know if i was a 'robot'. WT?? does that mean? funny stuff.. LOL

Hi, Rabbit.

That thing is called a CAPTCHA:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha

It stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart". Don't ask me how they came up with it. :) The whole purpose is that it takes a human to read the convoluted letters it produces, so you can be sure that a human is posting the comments, and not an automated SPAM bot.

I just downloaded the Crysis Beta... will report back soon with my first impressions.

Rabbitrunner51
09-19-2007, 06:29 AM
What a bummer.. I check my email all the time.. and so after i read your post Ramone, i go to FilePlanet and find they have already released 3 sets or batches of beta keys already, and i no one notified me of a thing. I am a member, get thier other stuff all the time, and find it started on the 11th?? I just went there a few days ago and saw nothing about this.. very strange indeed. Now.. i read Gamespy can notify you of the keys if you sign up for thier new beta loader.

Why don't they just relaese the demo for evrybody? , because everybody is going to get it anyways..... sometimes i just hate politics and policies....

Good news though....

fizur2002
09-19-2007, 08:27 AM
ya, only downside for me at the moment is that they dont support quad cores, probably will once its released. Having a lot of crashes in the beta. But when i do get a chance to play for a bit, its totally amazing, the multi-player aspect of the game is totally unbelievable. I think EA just killed the player base for BF2 with this game, and probably that of Quake Wars.

MJCfromCT

Beta runs horrible for me :( Extremely choppy at 1680x1050, medium settings. I hope it improves a lot...

Rabbitrunner51
09-19-2007, 11:35 PM
MJC, With your system and esp. that video card, one would think even a beta would work better... Why do these makers release somethng just to appease the masses, when the actual demo and even the full game are coming out soon?? Are you telling me none of us or you, whomever can't wait a bit??

I've been playing R6 Las Vegas of late and I'm very happy to be playing some good games released not long ago. Too many for me to worry about this for now.. but good luck on that LOL

fizur2002

5 more days boys.

Rabbitrunner51
09-22-2007, 02:29 AM
I just went to Fileplanet again due to them sending me an email about the demo release....and so forth.. ; so i go there and try and sign up for the the beta as thier accepting anothe batch of keys... so?? ... it sneds me to a page to check out waht i got for specs.. ( CPU, ram amount, internet connection, and video card ) and i get this 'sorry you did not pass the specs. )

Now i find this wierd, as not long ago I watched a screenie of the MAIN lead designer saying " the game will run on min. specs. meaning about what i have now...
What a bunch of garbage... All i'm hearing from reading about all of you playing the darn thing is; " it runs terrible and most of you have higher end machines than me.

This kind of puts me out.... I'm getting to the point of why wait for anything, when we get so much hype for soo long , just to find out it runs like doo doo... huh?

I played Bioshock( demo only ) and it ran great. I played a couple other high end new games and they run fine.. Like i said before, there are like dozens of new titles coming out, and i bet most of them are optimized or at least have game engines that work for most evrybody... ( 'Quake Wars' ran good also )

Well.. I said my piece... "good night alice"

fizur2002
09-22-2007, 06:30 AM
well the beta runs like crud because its A BETA, but, your machine will run the game just fine. Dont just slough this off as something your not even going to play, give it a whirl when the DEMO actually comes out. You may be pleasantly surprised how it plays.

Crysis demo delayed one month:

http://www.incrysis.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=487

First, I am sorry for the bad news - the Crysis single player demo will now be available everywhere on October 26th, 2007. We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call

Sad news. :(

Rabbitrunner51
09-22-2007, 07:21 PM
Thks fizur.. I agree. I will get the demo when it comes out.. no worries. I guess its just too much to ask for game makers to release anything that at least should work right.., otherwise why in the owrld release it at all..even in beta.

I've played may betas in the past that work great. I think possibly its a way or avenue for the game maker to find the bugs and whats needed to fix or optimize it before the games actual release... if thats the case, then just say so...up front. LOL

(On a side note: This is getting pathetic to me.. I need my upgrade sometime soon. All i need is about $350.00 to move a BIG step up. I've got the things i want saved.
My machine works great.. andi still feel greatful for that.. but thats chicken feed. half my system is like 2-6 years old. I guess i need to get the ball rolling and try and sell my old parts.... ( CPU, mobo, and video card ). I can afford the differnce in cost LOL )

MJC.. no worries mate. Time rolls by fast these days... myself, i can wait that long. ;)

MJCfromCT

Time does roll by fast, Rabbit, as the Crysis demo is set to be released tomorrow, if all goes according to plan. :)

Rabbitrunner51
10-25-2007, 08:08 PM
Well at least since i just ordered my upgrade parts, i'll have the system to play it.... ( although i'll need a little better video card sooner than i would have liked )

It should be interesting to see if the full game plays out better as far as performance than alot of what i've heard from reviewers of the beta.... LOL

ye normally round that price maybe 49.99 who knows im not %100 sure, but a few more hours and im looking forward to playin the demo. they said about 18 more hours dont ask how that the 26th.

Rabbitrunner51
10-26-2007, 05:30 PM
Sure wouldn't mind playing the demo since i was told my system doesn't meet the specs. for the beta that came out. That was because the game makers just wanted all those high end machines for purposes of tweaking the game... ( a mute point very soon LOL )

Yeah.. they said about the 26th for the demo.... better keep my eyes open on the game sites  ;)

Looks great there MP. LOL How are the framerates, considering you gots such a high end system?

In about a week and a half i figure my new rig will be up and runnin. Nice game to test my new system out on.>>>

New MB,CPU,memory, and within two weeks another high end PSU,and Sata drive, thn i will get yet another Video card ( likely the 8600GTS ), and i will be cookin with some gas.. LOL
Thks MJC for the link.. ( only have ot install it now ) interesting ot see if my VC will run it OK i would guess a 256MB card would be better for this..

pistol, you will do just fine with your current setup as its almost identicle to mine. Cept this game is supposedly native quad core and 64bit DX10. So vista should look really sweet.

Rabbitrunner51
10-26-2007, 10:08 PM
I gots the latest drivers for my card. Boy.. one needs to constantly go to the Nvidia site and see whats up. they sure do work hard on updating thier drivers. Less than one month after i loaded a new set I go there like three weeks ago, and another set was on there. I think i got the 163. something ones. Work perfect ,and always as usual, no major problems with them.

Not to feel justified, but i can remember, a couple fo years ago, i wrote posts here and swear i was in the bottom 5% of those who used a Nvidia card, and told everybody it was mainly due to them having better drivers with little problems. Now look at what everybodies got..

Such high settings.. i still only use like a couple steps up from 1024 X 768 at times, and normally only use the latter most of the time. If it were me,and i had a real high end card, i would opt for a bit lower setting and get better FPS. Thats obvious one would think. Anything above 1024 X768 looks so good anyways... IMO

MadPistol
10-26-2007, 10:25 PM
1920x1200 with everything on high averages about 20-30 fps for me. At those settings, there is no mouse lag or game pauses (other than loading areas), so the game is completely playable at those settings.

I'm really starting to like this game. My next mission is to see what it takes to get this game to average 60 fps.

That pic. does indeed look real good... I thought the first 'Farcry' had incredible graphics, esp. the folige. Never been a game out or made that compares..

Graphics is really the main reason i use or am into my computer so much. Am a detail, visual and artisitc sort by nature... its so excitng to see how this industry has come full circle.. Just gets better and better.

I'll post a screenie myself soon ,so i can compare our graphics. Yours should look alot better. Do the DX 10 cards, or the later 4.0 shader modeling improve things all that much? If i would have waited just two more months, i would have gotten a 8600GT or? Thts the computer industy for ya.

Going ot play the game for first time right now. Gots her loaded

Rabbitrunner51
10-27-2007, 02:32 AM
Oh oh.. i thknk theres a problem with me.. Maybe my system isn't up to specs.. working on it..

Pre game footage and menu all works and looks great. In game i am getting this split sqaure screen in top left corner, and the graphics are transperant and running together... I set the screen size to 1024 X768 with 2X AA and first played at medium settings.. both that one and lower had same problems... Going ot look for that patch you relayed to see if that helps out... The thing should show OK even with my card, taht is, unless you have to have a DX10 card.. you tell me.

Downloaded yet another pair of betas drivers version 169.01 just now... Hope my DX is updated enough.. got sept. 07 I believe right now.

more to come..??

Rabbitrunner51
10-27-2007, 03:42 AM
Well, i guess i won't be playing this.. the whole game from the start is just messed up... i loaded the latest beta drivers 169.01 and sameo. i'm getting that inset square that pops up right after the opening undrwater scene. Incredibly dark too.

Just for the heck of it, i ran the GPU benchie dos program, and even that i got like overlays all over the place. Nice that in the menu and per-game i get like over 280FPS... who cares??

Sorry to be so negative. I'm just so disappointed. I mean, waht does one have to have forf a machince to even play this thing at all. Is something in my computer messed up? i've played four othe of the lastest new game demos out, and all played gret and looked beautiful... no problems.

For all the hype i might not get this anyways.. not until I know i can play the darn thing. better invest in that $400.00 video card. ( just to play a lousy game?? figures! )

MJCfromCT
10-27-2007, 01:32 PM
Rabbit,

Can you post a screenshot of the messed up graphics?

Rabbitrunner51
10-27-2007, 04:49 PM
I guess I can.. i uninstalled it temp. I can reload it again for this purpose only.

Don't really know what showing a screenie would tell ya ??

Very strange. I guess most people are playing this fine. No problem with the FPS,at this high end level... Just bewilders me> I had the exact same issue with the game SC Double Agent. I wonder if the 3D settings in the video card properties need to be set or checked for somethiing?

Something tells me that this is DX10. or that i need to upgrade my DX version some more..can't say.

MJCfromCT
10-27-2007, 09:05 PM
A screenshot of the problem can usually indicate whether it is a software or a hardware issue.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "Something tells me that this is DX10"...your video card is running the game in DX9 mode.

Well now, i don't know if i should feel dumb or maybe its just that the 3D settings in the control panel was overlooked by me.

The game works fine now.. looks like its supposed to. I went into the 3D settings, and readjusted some things... I had a feeling it sure wouldn't hurt, and whtdoyaknow... EVERYTHING looked great and perfect. Mind oyou, i am not going to get very good FPS, but its a very nice looking game for sure.
This gmae will require some pretty good specs, and i'm sure with my new upgrade, even though i still have a mid range card, the FPS should pick up some. MY CPU is only 2.0 GHZ... The new one will have another gig of memory, and 2.8GHZ, and much faster CPU.

Thats weird that in the read me file, the specs. are wayy different than that. Of course those of us who have played the high end games, know basic specs. are always minimal. Does say DX 9.0c and originally they aid both ( DX10 ) would work

I still think its kind of bogus that to play this, thier telling us we need to go out and buy a 3-400.00 video card. Guess thats the price for all the added shaders, and all the rest of it. I know no matter how much i loved this game, this would not be the sole reason for spending away and getting a new one. I will soon enough... LOL

Sorry for the long posts. I often feel like we all want oto talk about this game in a positive mode, and i'm no exception to that. Obviously, this would be well worth the time and money spent.

Thks MJC for responding ot this. It got me motivated to find the answer, and was well worth it.

MJCfromCT

I'm hoping that when the game is released, a series of patches will come out that will further optimize the game engine and hopefully make it a bit more playable for people like yourself and me with mid-range hardware.

I'm glad you got it working. :)

I must say that with the better top end cards, that indeed does look sweet. I'll post some of mine to compare, but honestly, even though it looks good to me with a mid range card, does not compare ot that.... LOL great looking game heh?

I'm a bit happier myself.. turns out i thought i set my settings on low or medium, and so when i looked into the advanced options settings in the system/graphics menu, i had almost all set on high. No wonder i was getting 5-7FPS. I now get clsoer to 15-21. The game just rocks now.. and even looks alot better.
I set the main settings to all on medium with just picture and sound on high .

Hahahahah!.. Thats gotta be the cats meow... LOL

The game is going to be a great one no doubt. I noticed some humour along the way also. I love game makers putting in thier little sweet spots.
I'm already beginning to hate those Koreans.. Pesky little buggers they are. I found a few spots so far where i ran out of ammo, and thought about going back and getting some, which i did once or twice, but it is fun switching to extra strength, and kicking thier behinds with my fists... funny stuff. Was walking along or running, and noticed.. why walk when you cn ride...,so I killed the gunner, took the jeep and ran some of those buggers over. They sure put alot of the enemy in this level.. I like tough though.. I missed the good shot i shown above, where i threw a grenade,as they huddled in the shanty, and blew them and the thing to pieces... These grenades actaully workk for once.. thats nice. LOL  :x :r

There has been a lot of discussion about enabling the very high (DX10) settings in the XP demo to get more graphic goodness. (modding the config files)

http://www.crysis-online.com/forum/index.php?topic=11837.0

Of course the end frame rates depend on the quality of the hardware. I
did it, it works. I can still play the demo but still see better fine detail with my 7800GT. The mod to the config files basically replaces the high (level 3) settings with the (greyed out) very high (level 4) settings. By selecting some of the game options as high you can now see better detail in rocks, water etc and by tweaking some settings to med/low/very high I got playable frame rates (at better detail than just medium).

Enjoy!

CrazyCrusher
10-30-2007, 01:37 AM
ye I seen that mod,,i did try it,,but my system FPS where **** with settings maxed out,,,got like 12-15 FPS, but needless to say the settings i have it on are perfect for me right now runs smooth, some spots I get slight lag for a split secound but nothing that would drive me crazy.

Rabbitrunner51

Considering what you guys got with your nice rigs., and specs, i'm just pleased to be able to run it at the quality graphics, and decent FPS for my card. Currently i only have 1 GB ram, on a lower end X2. These newer Nvidia cards are so good ,they make things alot better than they otherwise could be.
As soon as i build my new rig, with much higher specs, and then get a little higher end video card, i'll pick up a good 10 -12 FPS for sure.. Makes a world of difference.

It is annoying though, trying to keep up with bad guys running around you and your FPS are not quite good enough to play fair... LOL if you have a nice speedy mouse, that would help alot.
The game looks incredibly good on medium settings.. They obviously made this game to run on the highest end machines, although a good mid range rig will do.
I'm actually getting better FPS in this game, then in R6 Vegas overall.

I use 'Intraview' and do batch conversons. Works really well. Just set the file associatons to bitmap or gif. Add files and run the start button in the menu option on left side scrolled.

The screenshot from windows will put it as a larger size format..MPEG or some other.

Screen shots

1440x900 (for widescreen flat panel) all graphics set to low to get a decent frame rate.

C2D e6400, x800xt agp, 1 gig pc3200 memory, asrock 775DUAL-VSTA ..looks like I need to get a better graphics card to get all the eye candy...and 2 gigs ddrII memory (which is cheap now). I am not sure I can get both as I think I will need to get a power supply before the graphics card and I want a quality ps..my buget only allow so much for Christmas and my birthday in Feb which is nice...as I can plan the upgrades not too far from one another.

Thanks Rabbit that is a nice program to convert the files.

800x600 allowed me to up a couple settings and have a higher frame rate for when the action starts (as frame rate drops when in battle).

Any one came across a tweak guide with any thing that works?

I tried a tweak from this site:

See post #9

I think maybe it runs a little better on my lower spec system...thought I would post in case some one else wants to try :D

For now.., i'm sure not worried too much about tweaks.. I just finished the demo, and i liked that. I swear..., the game looks even better than the last time I opened it up. PLays perfect... ( great FPS for my rig ) almost a smooth as Farcry for me.. If those are medium settings ( which i use ) then i'd like to know what others are seeing. Thing looks gorgeous.

Not to brag, but my graphics look alot better than that..LOL

Figures the ending or prequel to the full game would be like that. Pretty neat  ;)

Rabbit

With the patch I left a link to, I started running 1440x900 and (to me) the graphics looked better with the patch. It also seemed to me) that it ran smoother...but over all frame rate was a little lower. In heavy fight scenes...the frame rate did not seem to drop that much.

Maybe it is just late or something...but it seems better with that patch to me.

PS Rabbit..your screen shots did look better then mine...but I noticed you had a very low frame rate?? Can you play with a framerate that low??? Any thing that bogs down below about 30FPS does not seem like it plays right to me??

This last time i entered the game i didn' have my screenshot app. running , but to me the graphics looked even better than the last night... the game ran real smooth too... hardly any lag at all..

I think with the graphics, it might be a later shader model i'm using. What does the X800XT have. Thats a very nice card though.. it might be cause its an AGP card..

I might just for fun try applying that patch... can't see what it would help.

Looks to me like the two cards we have are pretty much equal...

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html

To get all the candy we will both have to upgrade unless they make the code a lot better....which I doubt...

I;m going to look for those drivers... Thats odd though, as the Nvidia page still lists the 163.76 drivers .. I got the 169.01 version now, and they helped alot, or at least i think.., lose track of what i'm doing sometimes...LOL

Yeah i took my time with this demo, otherwise would have completed it the first night... Great demo, pretty polished with hardly any bugs.. good job Crytek ;)
