rather wired setup
installing cd writed with external carrying case to plug into laptop
under sys properties it shows as scsi interface. the external cary case is plugged into the parallel port at the back of the laptop . i tried installing the dos drivers for the carry case and in saw only the external drive and not the internal cd rom
wierd huh?????!
if those drivers are used is comes up and says the ide drivers are not installed and the dos compatibility are causing the system not to run properly.
if i use the case driver disk it instals and cant see the external drive just the internal

big problem, if your not baffled just reading this then maybe you could be the one to help fix the problem!!!!!!!!!

Have never seen a parallel port external CD writer for a laptop, but I know that if you hook up external devices to the parallel port (zip drives, scanners, etc.), it has to be a bi-directional parallel port, and it has to be enabled that way in your motherboard bios so that back and forth communication can take place across the port.

it was a case for an internal cdr just trying to hook it up to the laptop
i disabled the LPT port and put the other setting to EPP. the laptop sees the drive if i install the drivers for dos but it wont see the original cdrom!????

WHAT AM I DOING?
