I had an AMD Athlon 1700 XP VIA chip that died due to horrible power surge in my apt building not long ago. I'd like to buy a new one, but they are all Greek to me. I like to play DaoC and some friends want me to join up at WoW, so I need one with 2.4 at least Ghz, and a new video card too. I had a GeForce FX 5700 128MB AGP 4X that got burned along with other things, so I will need a new one of those too. New Power supply, I had 450 which worked fine, and whichever RAM works with the Mobo, and whatever CPU is best for this setup. I don't need to be a gaming demon, just need a decent, functional and stable system that will handle graphics and games. I will run Win XP Home since I don't like what I've heard aobut Vista, and also I can still run my old Win 98 games on it, like Ceasar III and such that I still enjoy from time to time. I am also female, so it would be great if I could find the perfect place to put all of these together and have them test it and send to me if possible. I'm afraid I'd burn the whole thing up trying to do it all myself. I don't get the jumpers and BioS settings and such stuff, altho I do know how to insert a graphics card. lol Either that, or I could gather all parts, if that way is cheaper, and haul it all to the PC shop which is nearby and have them put the stuff together for me. I don't know which way is cheaper, they charge $80/hr. Pretty much the same anywhere out here in MA. $500-$600 is max I can spend. I don't mind using NVidia GeForce AGPs either, they work fine for what I play with, besides I still need Open GL for arts and graphics progs. What can you Xperts here come up with for me? I know you all are the best people in knowledge of PC innerds I can think of. Thanks ahead of time for the ideas. Oh yeah, and plenty of cooling too. Thanks again. Be back sometime tomorrow.
