This may sound dumb, but did you install the drivers for this device??
Make sure you have the latest versions, also.
Check out www.imation.com (http://www.imation.com) for the drivers.
Also, is the LS-120 a USB drive or internal, connected to a floppy drive port on the motherboard.

Jim -it is interal, on IDE -secondary slave it is listed under hard disc& floppy no driver loaded(won't let me)-since it is listed 2 times I've tried to remove the "floppy" it taks LS with it . upon reboot win 98 se finds new harware & loads driver for floppy again. it is a MITSUBISHI- can't find a driver at the home page or drivers .com ect
thanks gene

Try removing all references to it when you boot into Safe Mode, and then try reinstalling it. There's still stuff that remains in the System Properties in Safe Mode that you think might be gone. This might help you some!

Edit: almost forgot something... most LS120 drives are plug-and-play; Windows should automatically install the proper drivers for the drive. At least it did in my case (Win98 first edition). I have the LS120 drive, and it shows up as a Mitsubishi 120 COSM drive in Device Manager.

Does the bois detect it correctly? Does the mobo support it?

I have the same drive set up as my boot drive and as the lone floppy in the system. I never has to install any drivers. Currently running win95b osr2
