My son has Vista on his current pc. I'm probably building him a new pc, using the HDD's, DVD ROMS, tv tunerof the current pc; replacing the mobo, RAM, cpu, psu, vid card. Am I going to have problems with MS reinstalling Vista on the new pc?
Thanks for any replies. :t

if he is going to be playing games at all, i personally have had bad experiences with vista. Each person seems to be different. If he has problems playing games, then throw XP back on his system.

After Windows XP or Vista has been installed for 180 days (6 months), that particular PC's hardware configuration and registration drops off of MS's activation database. If 6 months has expired, activation will be painless. If not, you will have to make a phone call to MS to activate Vista. You may or may not have to explain to them why you need to activate again, but they will be obliging.

Just an update; built my son a new pc, only re-using his HDD's. Also replaced the RAM and vid card in my pc. Both running Vista, both no problems, no phone calls needed. :t
