Toshiba laptop running XP. For some reason, the task bar, is on the side, top to bottom. I did not do this, but may have accidently changed it, or maybe got a virus.
I have tried to change it back, but can't seem to find anything that changes the location.

all you have to do is click and hold on the blank part in the middle then drag it to the bottom

Pretty much what Midknyte has said.
Its a left click and hold with the cursor in a blank spot beside the Start button. This moves the whole task bar. If the cursor is anywhere else in the taskbar, then only the toolbar that the cursor is in will be moved.
And I agree about Windows for Dummies.
