questions about cas latency

in the bios my mem is set to cas 3. it is generic pc100 dram as far as i can tell. what will happen if i set the latency to 2? will it hurt anything or will the system just not run (at that point set it back to 3)? if indeed it will run at 2, will my system overall run faster or is this a waste of time to attempt?

If your lucky, your "generic" pc100 will run at Cas 2.Try it,if your system locks up,go back to Cas3.Will your system run any faster?If you can tell a difference,leave it at Cas2.If not,change it back to Cas3 so your Ram won't heat up as much.....DawgTuff.

thanks for the advice dawgtuff...i have a storm cooling my ram, as it is right by the ps and it is the type that blows out and a huge fan is blowing air right across that area.....
