Hi. I am having problems with my "new" Intel deskboard d815eea2.
First i formatted the harddisk, put on W2K pro and downloaded all updates and Service packs. After that i checked the hardware in control panel and found three yellow questionmarks, PCI device, graphic driver and sound.
First i installed "Onboard graphics driver", it looks that it is all ok, even the questionmark for sound disappears.
After that i put in my AGP graphic card and installs the NVidia drivers, The hardware list shows that there is one questionmark left, PCI device!
I can not get rid of that questionmark, does anybody know?
I have flashed the latest BIOS also, P21.

did you install the intel chipset drivers?

Hi Midknyte. Yes i did. I have to redo the complete installation to succeed the chipsets installation. Before everything, but after the OS and upgrades.

Do you have a modem or a network card?

run unknown devices to find out what that hardware is.

It looks that it is the 82801BA/BAM ICH2 USB universal host controller.
Nice program!

That should be included in the chipset drivers. Are you sure you install the right ones?

Yes, there is only one present for W2K on intel for that deskboard. If i install this before anything else (NVidia, directx and so on) it installs just fine. If i try to install after NVidia the installation fails. It works only direct after installing OS.
Even thoug, the questionmark remains. It looks to have something with USB?
Strange.

you're supposed to load the chipset drivers FIRST anyway.
the ICH is the southbridge of the chipset.
where did you get the drivers from? You can try getting them from an OEM like dell.

I have tried this. Now that i know what kind of device this is i looked it up and choose intel 82801BA in control panel with upgrade driver for that unknown device. The questionmark vanished! I shall run this for a while and study the behaviour, or?
If this do not work i shall try your Dell soloution. Excuse me for my English, but as Swedish is my native language it it a little hard to write "explainable" in English.
MANY thanks Midknyte and Sterling for assistance!!!! This computer is intended for my youngest daughter to replace her older one. This one is 1.13 GHz P3 and much avaited. Thanks again. May be i have to come back when this did not work anyway :-)

Hi again Midknyte. I followed your advice and downloaded the Dell file, and this soloution worked better than mine. For the moment it all runs well! Thank you for your help, i was completely stuck on thoose errors.
Now i have discovered that it is only running USB1, i have to read all docs from Intel
on how to change to USB 2.

That board should only be USB 1.1. There is no software to convert it to USB 2.0
You'd have to buy a USB 2.0 PCI card if anything.

OK, i buy a USB card at ebay when Elin needs to use USB. Thanks.
