In my Windows 98, the menu under Start/Program is not arranged in an alphabetical order. Some portion does and some doesn't. Now, when I install new software, it is listed at the bottom (even after I rebooted the system).
Any comment?

Yep, simply left click and drag the item to wherever you think it should be. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Or right click on any entry in the start menu and select sort by name. This will put em in alphabetical order.

The comment by bdog worked beautifully.
I appreciate all your help.

Yep, that too but if you have shortcuts in the menu it throws them all to the bottom. I like to delete the BS most programs put in folders on the start menu and sometimes just leave the shortcut there instead of the folder.
Am I incorrect in thinking that every shortcut occupies a cluster on a hard drive?

Yes. Every file, no matter how small, takes at least one cluster. So if your cluster size is 32k and you have a file that only 2k, then you end up with 30k wasted space, typically called "slack space".

Multiply that by possibly hundreds (or more http://www.sysopt.com/forum/redface.gif) of tiny files and you end up with a lot of wasted space.
