i have a abit bp-6 in a midi tower installed
when the tower is layed on the side so i can better look inside and switch cables or anything and i power the machine on the fans only turn for a second then stop.
when i put the comp in it's right standing position and turn power again on everything is fine and it runs. ???????
BTW i like this system now very much but i got it a very unluckily way.
my previous zm-6 abit got killed
i only put the system a little bit on the side i didn't lay it on the floor i only moved it 30 degrees or so to see if my fan was still on. then monitor switched of and my mobo never booted again.also power supply was broken and my hd. Perhaps you shouldn't move a running system, or?? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

That sounds pretty bizzare.

I know that hard drives only like to lay flat or sit at 90 degrees and it's a bad idea to tilt them when they are running.

Generally, it's bad to tilt a system with the power on. I've got no idea why the fans would stop unless the power supply has some sort of tilt sensor in it which detects a falling system and shuts down as a safety measure. That would cause the hard drives to park thus protecting them. The CD and Floppy drives shouldn't care as they work both in the horizontal and vertical.

I'd check into the specs of the power supply you've got there and see if it might have a tilt sensor in it.

Then there's always the possibility you have a short somewhere in your system that needs to be fixed.

Something that is loose inside the case shorting out like Axel said or a cracked circuit board on almost any device could both cause this.

I would pull the case off and double check for anything loose. Make sure the CPU is seated all the way, and same for ram and PCI/ISA cards.

You could have a nightmare on your hands!

first thanks for your replies.
oh men last night i was really thinking of selling this putter.
suddenly it was off when i switched it on again it only displayed bios of my v3 and didn't go further.then again i switched off and again on and then it only beeped on me.
it did;#t go no more but fans were turning full power.
today i built everything out the case and laid mobo on the floor of course on anti static material and now everything is working.
mobo turns everytime on lying like it did never when it was in the case so it seems really anything shortened.i am happy everything is still ok.
what do you mean new case or trying to clean
my old case and looking where it shorts??
but i think i will buy a new one. better that than buying everything new like last time.
and i wish the shop where i bought this case
every bad thing on earth. GGGRRRRRRRR
