As far as I know, yes.

And I for one, don't particularly care for AR. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I'm affraid that i am going to have to dissagree with my learned colleages and say that no you can open them in other program. One that i know about it called GSview32. It is a program ported to the PC from the unix comunity for looking at postscript files. Used mainly in the world of latex and the like where you what you see isn't what you get so a post script viewer is neccessary. I'll look out a link for you. But it still might be not much better than AR! although it is free (well so is AR so no real advantage)

Ahh..you are correct in that there is a couple of standalone VIEWERS that can work with the .pdf files but I have found AR is the only one that works completely effectivly with them as the others are always lacking in some respect. I personally choose not to recommend a "crippled" program when a "healthly" product is avaliable and is free to boot!

you can download acrobat reader for free here

I personally use adobe illustrator to view and edit pdf's, but it is not cheap.
