Connecting 2 computers for internet

How can we connect 2 computers for internet connection on both? I am using a router, and this one has only 1 USB and 1 LAN slot.

You can't have one on USB and the other on LAN but you can connect the main computer to the router with the USB cable and once you have a working internet connection, you can "share" that connection (in Control Panel > Network connections - right-click and choose Properties > Sharing). Before sharing the connection, connect the two computers with a cross-over ethernet cable. In this configuration, the main computer that is sharing the connection must be on and awake to enable internet access for the second computer.
Alternatively you could also buy a switch or a hub which is basically a splitter for the single LAN port. This way it would not be necessary to keep the main computer running all the time.

Are you sure it's a router? what is the make and model? Sounds like that is just a plain cable modem.

Or if it happens to be one of thses Modem/Router combo that some ISP give out and it has only one Ethernet port get a 4 port switch, plug the Modem Router to the switch and the two computers to the other ports on the switch.

Howvever, if Midknyte (and many times he is ;) ). You need to buy a Router.
