Does anyone suggest using a tv screen as a computer monitor? pros/cons? or, since my video card (ati rage agp) has a tv out, can I use a tv as a "second' desktop? just like a second monitor without the second video card?
you guys are all pimps for helping me.

TV-out is decent for watching movies and playing the occassional wgame, but they don't have high enough definition for everday use. You text will most likely be blurred and pictures will have a glazed look. ATI has one of the best TV-out setups, but its still useless as compared to a monitor.

But If i just wanted to use a monitor as a second desktop, is that possible? AAAAnnnd....if I use the tv out to watch dvd's, does the soundplay through my computer speakers or will it play through the tv speakers?

A TV tuners max resolution is 512*320 or 640*400 *60hz. Not sure if you can have each displaying a separate desktop, but if you have them displaying the same desktop, most likely your monitor will have a drastically distorted display.
As for sound, I have mine hooked up using a VCR so I have both the TV and the PCs speakers playing the sound from both sources.
Not much use for playing games, or doing work, but excellent for presentations. (and ripping off SW: TPM onto VHS /forum/smile.gif)
