i would like my firefox on my desktop to be exactly as the one on my laptop (plug-ins, themes, bookmarks, links, etc) can i save the firefox configuration somehow and load it onto the laptop?

you can try copying your profile folder over to the new system after installing FF.
Firefox Profile Folder
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
you could also try this program:
