I had a noisy P.S. so I replaced it with a new one, the new power supply has a on/off switch on it.
Before I replaced the power supply everything worked, after I put it in I fliped the switch and the P.S. fan and cpu fan came on, shoulndn't it not come on till I push the button on front of case? Nothing else comes on, the H.D does not spin up. If I take off the IDE cables then everything gets power and spins up...Wierd eh?

Ok now I am almost sure that the new P.S is frying the boards. I am going back to replace the power supply and Mobo.

Good move Freakout...
I've seen in the past where the power supply turns on just like you say. It was faulty.
Let us know how the new one works out.

If I understand you, the system boots if you remove your IDE cables? If so, check the power connections on the drives, if one of your drives has no power but is plugged into an IDE channel, the computer won't boot. The comp coming on when you turn on the hard switch on the back is fairly normal, that depends on the motherboard.

I have a ASUS P5A atx mobo.
I turn on the switch on the back of the power supply and it turns on and the cpu fan goes too, Nothing else goes. But if I unplug the IDE cable to the H.D the drive then spins up.
Could it be the power switch on the front of the case? Even with the switch on the back of the P.S the system should not power up untill I press the switch on the case front.
