Before going thru a reload, the Dell computer I am working on has almost all the services disabled. I have no idea what causes this.
Also, System Restore is disabled so I can't restore to a previous time.
Is a reload the best fix or is there an easier way to restore services without go thru each individually?

Besides system restore is there something else that isn't working?
I turn off all the services I can and then some...

If they have RAID1 and disabled system restore, there is a good chance that someone was savvy enough to mess around with services. Otherwise, it could be a virus/spyware.

To the best of my knowledge, the onboard Ethernet is not working. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the onboard NIC and it cannot find an IP address. I'm not sure about the modem.
I just got more curious and found the DHCP Client in Services was disabled. I enabled it, started it and now I can see the network. However, the Internet is not working properly. It seems to see each site but will not display content or anything for that matter.
I have just never seen a computer with so many services turned off.
My dilema is whether to deal with each service and hope I get it right or just do a reload which I assume will reset services to default state so to speak.

Midknyte - The owners of this computer are just casual users and would have no idea what/where services are. I am suspecting virus/spyware and with this in mind alond with comments on this post, I am trying to determined whether a reload is cleaner or to fiddle around trying to find the culprit(s).
Experience (not as much as yours) has often shown it is better/cleaner to reload after first saving data.

A restore/reinstall would be your best bet at this point. You could spend hours trying to find the culprit.
I'd still do a virus/spyware scan of the files you back up. No sense in reloading the system, only to reinfect it when you put the data back.

A wipe and fresh install is the only way to kill most virus/spyware now.

I agree. I have already backed up and scanned the files. No viruses/spyware on the data files. I am also scanning the computer using a downloaded AVG Free. The McAffee was totally disabled on this computer.
My curiousity is getting to me and I would like to see why before the reinstall.
Thanks again for the help.

I'm not a fan of AVG. I use NOD32. Avast, Antivir or Bitdefender8 free would probably do better than AVG.

Try Counterspy and see if it finds anything.
