this is probably a really silly problem but I am having trouble downloading sandra and UT levels. The files are shown with RealPlayer icons; when I try to open them the computer says it needs thing from realplayer, searches and then comes up short (ie. it says it can't find things req'd)
what's up with that?

Here's the link you need to get your real-audio plug in/software.
http://www.realaudio.com/
They've got some neat stuff - only bad thing is you might end up with a little more SPAM than you currently have.
from the sound of it - you simply need the "generic" realaudio software. it isn't actually a plugin, but is software that adds to your association files - so - when it sees a real audio file, it opens realaudio so it can play the file.
I think that's the way it works anyway.
If you are using netscape, I recommend that you get a much newer version, or simply download IE4.0SP2 off the www.microsoft.com/ie (http://www.microsoft.com/ie) download area. It has most of the stuff you appear to be missing already built in.
So - what are you running?

thanks for sticking with me, alex
I am running explorer 5.0 and I just downloaded realplayer 7 (replacing G2). I just don't get it. I even re-downloaded sandra and the same **** came up when I tried opening it in realplayer.

Sharky...Sorry if I'm not understanding you right but why would you want to EVEN try to open Sandra with REALPLAYER???? Sounds to me like your FILE ASSOCIATIONS ARE really MESSED UP! Sandra downloads as a .exe or .zip file depending on where you get it. I would suggest double checking your file associations and then it should work just fine.

Hey Sharky!
hey, have you ever changed associations for files? If not, just click on the file in question, say a zip file... while HOLDING DOWN THE SHIFT KEY, RIGHT click on the file. In the popup menu, you'll see an option to "open with." Select this. Now, in the new window that opens up, select WinZip. Make sure the little box that says always use this program, has a check in it, and hit okay.
From them on, zip files should be opened with WinZip.

Axel: thanks for the reply, but I'm still kinda lost.
when attempting to open downloaded files (which appear with realplayer icons) realplayer displays window that it requires components; after looking for them on the internet, it states that missing plugin was detected and that realnetworks was being contacted. Finally, a window appears where it states that AutoUpdate has no plug in available to play my selection.
When visiting the site you listed I am unclear as to which plugin I should be downloading?
Thanks
