I can't get the registry to accept restore commands,, must be doing something wrong. Followed the Microsoft instructions about attrib -h -r -s system.dat and so forth. This machine is a Compaq and the owner didn't make boot discs and my generic Win95 boot disc causes a note about not the same system am I sure to overwrite? Heck No, I'm not sure about anything now.. any help will be much appreciated as this is a REAL BIG man. thanks, DrVette

Duh, I knew not to,, but I DID stick the Win95 boot disc in, uh-oh. And as you know, Compac don't offer the download you need as I can tell. Now it says that the ms/dos system is incorrect, press ctl+alt+del to restart. Gonna get the orig. cd and try to save some prog.s for them. let ya know how it goes, maybe try to steal the sys files from the Compac "restore" CD. thanks, DrVette
