is there a "quick and dirty" way to identify a Win" modem looking at the modem chassis??..i assume if u see more components (chips) you are looking at a NON winmodem..is this correct??

The designations are on the left. Good luck.
ISA modems are typically not WinModems. PCI typically are (there are several exceptions.) All external modems are hardware driven.
