Are there any devices, say, from Radio Shack that lets me connect my cable output to my monitor? Meaning that I want to take the cable from the back of my tv, screw it into a device that plugs into the monitor plug and viola! If there is one, about how much might it cost? Actually, it'll be the output from the VCR which is where I'd do all my channel changing and such since the VCR is cable ready.

I'm not familiar with any such adapter, but the ATI All-In-Wonder card has a TV tuner built into it and software to watch tv on your pc if that is what you are looking for. Cable ready and everything....... display is pretty darn good too and the interface is nice with some handy features.
The card stinks as a 3D accelerator though for gaming.

I'm currently using a V770 TnT2 32MB AGP video card in my system. I've kinda been wanting to get a TV tuner, and all eyes are on the ATI All-in-wonder card. HOWEVER, can I just use this card for "TV-tuning" and use my v770 for 3D/2d? Is there a better/less expensive route?
Thanks

I have a WInTv PCI video capture card. I use it to watch tv on my computer. It cost me $50 at office max.

target, you said the ati all in wonder stinks for 3d and gaming, what exactly are you talking about, as i was seriously considering the AIW 128 32bit for a allaround solution to keep down on a bunch of somponents?

Jambin....guess I should have clarified my statement a bit before I slammed the ATI AIW cards.
When I said that the AIW was bad for gaming, I was speaking of my own experiences with the AIW Rage Pro (older version of the AIW). On the one I had with the Rage Pro chipset, it absolutely sucked at Open GL. Direct 3D was fine and was both fast and pretty, but the GL driver support was, and still is, lacking for the Rage Pro Chipset.
Now the AIW 128 could be a completely different story, and I cannot fairly comment on it. My appologies for generalizing about the ATI All-In-Wonder cards. I should have known better. I am sure there are a lot of reviews on the AIW 128 that would be helpful as I have not personally investigated them.
Again, sorry for not being more specific when making the statements I did.
Yes ATI uses chipsets that do not enhance 3d rendering like the Riva or 3dfx. If you are wanting maximum performace stick with the Riva or 3dfx based cards. IF you are not a gamer or need 3d rendering that is "fast" then the ATI cards will work fine. As far as an adapter that goes from the vcr/tv straight into the pc monitor. I don't think you will have much luck. Because the picture isn't the same that is why we are going to HDTV that signal is like what a pc monitor can handle. But if you want a TV tuner/video capture card there are tons out there. This lets the pc do the work in converting to a digital signal.
