Here's a puzzler...
A friend and I were putting together a nice new Athlon 500 system. We got the minumum (video, mobo, cpu, memory, hdd) together and turned it on for a test. It POSTED fine and found the hdd. So, we shut it down, throw in the DVD drive, sound card, etc and get ready to install operating systems. Rebooting was necessary but difficult.
It would shutdown and try to come back but nothing would happen. Sometimes a strange grid-like picture would appear on the screen. Reset would do it's job initally, but then it still would not come back up. Eventually after several tries at shutting the power off and back on it will come back on and boot.
THe mobo is a 7IX. I'm not really sure of the brand (I didn't buy the parts). It's all standard ATX stuff. The case is really nice, but it does have a 250 watt ps (300 is generally recommended for the Athlon). The videocard is an ATI allinwonder pro.
Any suggestions? This is really puzzling...
Thanks everyone!
