Hi,
I have a tyan S7 motherboard w/ the via chipset running win 95b...4 meg agp card and 4 meg pci 3d card...64 meg pc 100 ram. My manual allows you to set the memory speed to AGP 66hx or cpu clock speed in my case 100 x4 for k62-400? which one is the best choice for this setup???

Well since you have 64 megs of PC-100 ram I would set it to the CPU clock speed of 100mhz FSB! you'll get alot better performance out of the memory.

Hi All!

Yeah, especially with a socket 7 board, if you have pc100, always set your ram speed to your fsb speed. The faster your ram, the better performance you'll get.

6 x 66mhz fsb = 396.

4 x 100mhz fsb = 400.

You might think that either of these would equal 400mhz, but in fact, the 4 x 100 will be noticeably faster. Because your cpu is communicating much faster (50% in faster in fact) with your ram.

Good Luck In All...

Thanks for the info...I set the jumper settings to 4X 100 hz to get my 400. But I wasnt sure about the memory (dimm) speed jumper mentioned on another part of the board
I thought running a agp and pci cards for vid would I had to be 66hz....I'll set it to cpu clock speed and rerun a benchmark that I saved at 66hz....Thanks for the info !!!
