I have a PIII 500 on an Abit BE6 motherboard with Diamond Viper 770, 56X Cd Rom, #3com Gaming Modem, (1) 128 Meg & (1) 32 meg chip, and an iomega internal Zip.
HD - Master / cd slave - IDE 1
Zip Master - IDE 2
The computer boots up to the C> prompt and I switch to D> prompt - when I try accessing the D>The computer resets????everytime!! This system I just put together - cant even get windows98 installed - Could it be BIOS? Not enough Power??? Ram Conflicts???

Try the CDROM as a mster on the second IDE channel. Also make sure you have the correct drivers for the unit.
Sometimes a little play with the jumper settings can help. I have had drives working from putting the jumpar ACROSS the master/slave jumpers. Don't ask me why this worked as I have no idea whatsoever.
Let us know how it goes http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I think you just overlooked some things.
First...You have a BE-6 (sorry...couldn't help it)
Anyways...what controller do you have the CD connected to? I can tell you it will not work at all in one of the ATA66 connectors.
Now, if it's in a ATA33 connector, make sure the polarity is correct on the IDE cable ( some will plug in backwards)
As a last check...remove all cards but the Video card, then boot.
You will want to have the PC up and running Windows before you install teh other cards anyways...because the BE-6 is just too **** picky about what is plugged in where, and in this case you are starting blind on this build.
