About 10% of the time I go to close IE I get an illegal operation pop up window. The only thing that gets rid of this window is a restart (Hitting close brings up an identical one). As if this isn't bad enough, I can't minimize this little gem. I did a check on the MS knowledge base and came up with nothing. Any help would be apperciated http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Isn't Microsoft the greatest? Every application always has some problem. Anyway, I've had this happen to me on occasion also. One question I have for you: are you running Windows98 First or Second Edition? The reason being that Second Edition has IE 5.0 built-in; I had so many problems with IE in Win98se that I had the HD reformatted.
If you're running first edition, IE is a separate application. You may have to reinstall IE to get rid of the problem.
Before you do that, do you have Nortons SystemWorks 2000 (if not, check out www.symantec.com). (http://www.symantec.com).) It's possible that WinDoctor (a utility in Nortons) will be able to repair the problem.
Good luck!

seti,
I had the same thing happening several months back. With my system, it worked out to be a dll file causing the problem. Do you have Norton (Pre 2000 Ver) and Win98?
If so, you can go the the Norton Site and get an updated dll. I can't recall the name of the file right now, but I posted re. this problem a while back. I'll look for the link for ya.
Best of luck in all,
......CHNsaw

The problem dll file was APITRAP.DLL

I'm running a fully updated win98 first edition.

JimG...reinstalling IE would not help as this problem has followed me through several clean installs of Windows.

I also do have Norton Utilities...but it's 2000. Hmmmmm..... I'm going to go look around the symantic site and if that fails I'll run windoctor and wait and see if the problem comes up again.

Thanks for searching for that link CHNsaw http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I run Win98SE on my main PC. Have so since before you could buy it.

Never had any problems with SE until I installed Nav2000! Norton seems to have the market cornered on screwing up Win9x.
