Hey!
Trying to install The AWE64 gold on my NT 4 SP5 machine and it won't take. I unpack the install file to temp. Restart, new found hardware- aim the dll's to the temp file, it asks me for my NT CD and all goes well. it gives me the audio properties window with no conflicts listed, I hit ok and it can't find the MIDI driver and aborts the install.

uuuh,,, I guess that would be me...
It has done this with a clean install and one with a creative labs entry in the multimedia devices. The little speaker is in the tray but there is no sound (yes I even thought to check if the speaker was plugged in). They work on my 98 machine...
I've tried every combination of install I can think of- I'm stumped :\

"new found hardware"

Are you saying NT picks it up without manually installing the card? Perhaps you mean Add New Hardware. IF that is the case. I add soundcards with the multimedia icon in the control panel in NT.

Just carefully follow the README installation instructions for the AWE64G under NT. It comes with the latest driver download. It'll install without a hitch.

NOTE:
-Remember to remove any previous Creative drivers first.
-Whenever system files are used from the original NT CD, the reinstall of the SevicePack is in order.
