Under system properties/hardware profiles, you can copy your profile. Where does windows save this file? I looked for the one that is called "original configuration" but couldn't find it. I know you can copy it and then when you restart you will be promped for which configuration to use, but I want to put a copy of this on a disk.
(This is for win 95 system running a point of sale system with some real wierd settings)
Thanks in advance
Dave

All the info is stored in system.dat and user.dat in the windows dir.
You'll need to compress them (zip) to get them on floppy(s).

Thanks Comtech,
Shoot, I wish I knew that yesterday, I think I have already done too many restarts to restore a good registery.
What happened was that this system has some custom made cards to run all the terminals and reciept printers and the bios must have been set to save some IRQ's and possibly assigned some memory ranges to them.
Yesterday, after having it off a while, I turned it on and it said the BIOS battery was dead and it loaded the default settings.
So I pushed F1 to continue and when windows booted it started detecting and installing hardware, leaving me with a mess of conflicts. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
Thanks for your reply, I know what I need to save for the next time, only all my sales and credit card data have been getting backed up.
