That is unless you saved the old BIOS file as the software told you to. - If you can re-flash with the old file, you can save the chip and get the correct file. CMonster 01-05-2000, 09:09 AM 1) Try clearing the CMOS and using an ISA video card to gain access to reflash correct BIOS: 2) Is the BIOS chip removable? You may be able to hot swap the chip with another baord and reflash it. daveleau 01-05-2000, 01:57 PM I did this with an FIC PA-2013 and opted for a new mobo since everywhere I looked had the BIOS chip for a cost slose to a new mobo. So I upgraded to a mobo that I liked better. Dave BBA 01-06-2000, 07:47 AM I would seriously beg the tech department at Abit to send you a new chip. Other than that, I have revived a chip once. Very tricky. Unless you have a very good hand and tool for IC's, don't do this! What I did was boot another type of PC (that happened to have the same type bios chip in it) up to dos with a floppy. Then I pulled it's bios chip out while it was still running. I inserted my messed up chip in place and flashed it again. Then I shutdown the PC, put the right chip back in it and put mine back in my PC and all was well. Let me add...I was determined not to break the board but almost did...chips are hard to pull out and insert...especially with the PC running! So, Call Abit! matthewgs 01-07-2000, 07:30 PM THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!!After many fruitless hours trying to get MB to boot. I emailed ABIT in California...they responded in 5 minutes and It will cost me $10.50 for the Bios Chip...Very Cool Nathan 01-08-2000, 09:58 AM $10.50? That's worth it indeed. Let us know how it worked out. SysOpt.com
