hey guess what i just formated my comp 3 times already trying to find out what the freezing deal i keep getting! my comp like freezes up every time i go look at the DxDiag thing in the directx folder in the program dir! i have the directx7 and i also tried the 7a but it still did it! my comp also freeze up like on real player 7 plus, i go to preference and onto "display" tab and my comp freezes up!!

i never had this kind of problem before!
i formated my comp 3 times clean install!!

i also get an error when i went to my screen saver tab in display properties saying like an "MCI Error", MMSYSTEM296
but i fix that by uninstalling the particular screen saver that was default of the factory setting of my comp!

i have the diamond viper 770 using their driver. but i don't think that matters cause those freezing up deal happened on "standard display adapter (vga)" setting also!

**** is this probably y2k problem or something?

please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

thank you so much for your time people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the problem might be sound related not vidio. You may want to check your sound card driver. See if you can make any sense of this Microsoft KB article. (I couldn't)

burnup, please, in the future, don't multiple post... it gets confusing for everyone to keep track of the responses and please post in the best forum for the topic. Thanks!

Apologies to Dave_H, and will reference.
